Generation, Transmission and Distribution of electrical power to cover the needs of the customers at the various residential, industrial and commercial sectors throughout the Emirate of Sharjah as well as the requirements of the public utilities such as government buildings, hospitals, mosques and lighting of public parks, streets etc. To provide such services, SEWA has established several generation power stations and transmission and distributions covering all parts of the Emirate.

His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has issued an Emiri decree appointing a Chairman for Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (Sewa). Decree No. 37 of 2020 stipulates that Saeed Sultan Al Suwaidi will be appointed as Chairman of the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, on the system of private jobs in Sharjah Government, as of date. The Emiri Decree is effective from the date of issuance and other competent authorities should implement its provisions each in its respective field. It shall be published in the Official Gazette.

    Meeting customer satisfaction through delivery of reliable services of electricity and water and piped natural gas at an excellent level of safety and quality standards in line with the most advanced technologies and under supervision of qualified and skilled workers.

    Under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qassimi, the Ruler of Sharjah, ambitious expansions and development projects were implemented by SEWA to cope pace with the comprehensive development process coupled with tremendous constructional expansions witnessed in the Emirate of Sharjah.

    And under the supervision of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, these achievements, the sectors of Electricity, Water and Natural Gas have witnessed tremendous growth.

    Electrical Power:

    Several new generation units, distribution and transmission substations were installed to raise the power generation, distribution and transmission capacities.

    Water Supply:

    Similar growth trend was witnessed in field of water supplies with the commissioning and development of more desalination plants and well fields. In 1995, SEWA established "Zulal Water Factory" as an unprofitable government organization to produce quality bottled fresh water with best international standards and specifications.

    Piped Natural Gas Service:

    This was introduced by SEWA for domestic, commercial and industrial purposes as First of its kind in the region. Introduction of piped gas supply in the Eastern Zone Gas is also in progress.

    Another project within the framework of SEWA policy to exploit the feasibility of natural gas as an efficient fuel, that is the use of compressed natural gas (CNG) as fuel for vehicles instead of petrol is in progress.

    Within its human resources policy, SEWA devotes great attention to job emiratization and provision of more qualification and training for, the number of the national employees.

    Under its integrated strategy, SEWA management strives to achieve the following aims:

  2. Promote Emiratization and develop the human resources, particularly for technical and administrative jobs
  3. Intensify efforts and resources to meet the requirements of the customers and exceed their expectations

  5. Devote great attention to the vital issues of our community, promote conservation of electricity and water and maintain our natural resources
  6. Maintain the environment and initiate consistent researches and studies on the feasibility of the renewable energy
